What you should know

Lobsters are ocean creatures with a tough shell and two strong claws they use to catch food and protect themselves. If you pick one up, those claws can give you a really painful pinch, so always handle them carefully or let a grown-up do it. They live on the rocky ocean floor and mostly come out at night to hunt.

Whoa

Lobsters can live for over 100 years, and unlike most animals, they actually get bigger and more fertile as they age rather than slowing down.

Staying safe around it

Treat it with respect, keep your distance, and tell a grown-up if you see one up close.

Always ask a grown-up before you touch any animal or plant. If something bites or stings you, tell an adult right away.
