The blue-ringed octopus is a tiny sea creature about the size of a golf ball that lives in the Pacific and Indian Oceans. When it feels scared, bright glowing blue rings flash across its body as a warning. Never touch one, because its bite carries a powerful venom and there is no antidote.
One blue-ringed octopus carries enough venom to kill 26 adult humans, yet the whole animal fits in the palm of your hand.
This one is venomous, which means it can put venom into you with a bite or a sting. Never touch it, and never try to move it yourself.
Always ask a grown-up before you touch any animal or plant. If something bites or stings you, tell an adult right away.
