Chickens are friendly domesticated birds raised on farms and in backyards all over the world. They are curious and usually gentle, though roosters can peck or scratch if they feel scared or threatened. Always wash your hands after touching chickens because they can sometimes carry bacteria called Salmonella on their feathers and feet.
There are more than 25 billion chickens alive on Earth right now, making them the most numerous bird on the planet and outnumbering every human being by more than three to one!
This one is genuinely harmless to people. Still look with your eyes and let it go about its day.
Always ask a grown-up before you touch any animal or plant. If something bites or stings you, tell an adult right away.
