What you should know
Cats are one of the world's most popular pets, loved for their soft fur, purring, and curious personalities. They are usually gentle, but a frightened or annoyed cat may scratch or bite, which can sometimes cause an infection. Always move calmly around cats, and ask the owner before petting a cat you do not know.

Adult cats almost never meow at other cats -- they developed meowing specifically to communicate with humans, which means every time a cat meows at you, it is speaking a language invented just for us.
Staying safe around it
This one is genuinely harmless to people. Still look with your eyes and let it go about its day.
Always ask a grown-up before you touch any animal or plant. If something bites or stings you, tell an adult right away.
