Gorilla gorilla
Added to Mind of Animals by Pippa
Gorillas are the largest primates on Earth and live in the rainforests of central Africa in family groups led by a powerful male called a silverback. They mostly eat plants and are usually calm, but they are incredibly strong wild animals and should never be approached. If you ever see one at a zoo, admire it from a safe distance!
Every gorilla has a completely unique nose print, just like every human has unique fingerprints, so scientists can tell individual gorillas apart just by photographing their noses.
Treat it with respect, keep your distance, and tell a grown-up if you see one up close.
Always ask a grown-up before you touch any animal or plant. If something bites or stings you, tell an adult right away.
